A few years ago, Beth Gallo started a specialty food company that she never dreamed would resonate with so many different types of people.
Mad Hectic Oatmeal is a personal recipe she developed for herself after turning forty and surviving breast cancer. (Beth is 13 years cancer free this year!) She started looking more closely at her life and realized that although she had been meaning to change her diet for a long time, she hadn’t done much about it. She needed to find a realistic way to add specific, healthy ingredients into her diet every day. It needed to be quick, packed with nutrition, and great-tasting too.
The most logical place to make an easy and significant change seemed to be breakfast. Mornings can be one of the most chaotic times of the day. Describing it as “Mad Hectic” is often an understatement! Everyone goes in different directions and is often out the door without breakfast.
So she started mixing... one ingredient after another, each one carefully selected for its health benefits. After several years, she came up with a mix that we now affectionately call “Mad Hectic Oatmeal!”
At first, Beth thought Mad Hectic Oatmeal would be popular with busy moms. And it is! But others enjoying it are natural food lovers, kids of all ages, body builders, long distance runners/bikers, and folks with specific dietary needs. The response has been incredible. Clearly, this is not your ordinary oatmeal!
Enter Mallory & Ben!
In early 2014 Beth’s niece Mallory and her husband Ben approached her about becoming part of the business. They already loved the product and knew Mad Hectic had a lot of potential to grow. Ultimately, the three came to an agreement that Mallory and Ben would purchase the company and take over operations. With their investment and experience in sales and finance, they plan to maintain product integrity while expanding the brand and bringing Mad Hectic to more people!
But Beth is still part of the picture! Her story, creativity and expertise in product development are vital to Mad Hectic’s success and she will remain an integral part of the company. The same ingredients and vision she put in place will remain. We’ve just relocated to where we live in Houston, Texas!
